Aluminium / Silver
Aluminium scrap rate per kg today in Pakistan
Today's rate
Rs 520 – 650per kg
Updated:
Aluminium, often called 'silver' by kabaris, is light, does not rust and is fully recyclable. Its scrap price depends heavily on the type: clean window sections and utensils earn more than cast engine parts or crushed cans.
Aluminium scrap rate by grade
| Grade | Per kg | Per maund (40 kg) | Per ton (1,000 kg) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Utensils (silver) | Rs 520 – 580 | Rs 20,800 – 23,200 | Rs 520,000 – 580,000 |
| Window and door sections | Rs 580 – 650 | Rs 23,200 – 26,000 | Rs 580,000 – 650,000 |
| Cast aluminium and rims | Rs 520 – 580 | Rs 20,800 – 23,200 | Rs 520,000 – 580,000 |
That is about Rs 295 per pound (0.4536 kg) at the top of the range.
How to identify each grade
Utensils (silver)
Old pots, pans and degs without plastic handles.
Window and door sections
Profiles from windows, doors and shop fronts; remove glass and rubber.
Cast aluminium and rims
Engine parts, gearbox casings and alloy rims.
Cans (UBC)
Used beverage cans; best when crushed and dry.
Aluminium wire
Overhead line and cable wire, bare or coated.
What affects the aluminium scrap price?
- Alloy type: pure sections and utensils beat cast alloys.
- Contamination such as iron bolts, rubber seals, glass or paint.
- International aluminium price and the dollar rate.
- Volume: aluminium is light, so buyers prefer larger lots.
Where does aluminium scrap come from?
- Kitchen utensils and degs.
- Window frames, doors and shop fronts during renovation.
- Car and bike engine parts, rims and radiators.
- Beverage cans and food trays.
How to get a better price
- 1Use a magnet: aluminium is not magnetic. Pick out iron bolts and inserts.
- 2Separate window sections, utensils, cast parts and cans; mixed loads get the lowest rate.
- 3Crush cans to save space and get a fairer weight.

Why do kabaris call aluminium 'silver'?
Because of its silvery colour. In the scrap trade 'silver' usually means aluminium utensils, not real silver.
Are alloy rims aluminium?
Most car alloy rims are cast aluminium. Remove tyres, valves and wheel weights first, because buyers deduct for them.
